Lizzie Shirt designs and creates stunning colourful, contemporary children’s clothing and accessories for boys and girls aged 0-7 years. The entire range is produced 'in house' in Cornwall. The designs are all original, using a variety of fabrics from fleece and fur to bold prints and hand dyed cottons. An important design element is the use of surface decoration - distinctive trimmings and printed and stitched motifs. Says Lizzie, 'Quality is important: we endeavour to produce clothing that is practical to wear and wash, with a high standard of finish.'
Sarah Bond, owner and designer, established the Lizzie Shirt label in 1992.The business operates from a Cornish sail-loft. The name 'Lizzie Shirt' originates from an eccentric local character who lived in the Falmouth area towards to the end of the 19th century. 'Lizzie Shirtie', a pedlar, was popular with local children, selling sweets and treats from her big basket at the town's fairs and festivals.
